A smaller size utensil made from the ivory of a Sperm Whale, this item has extremely nice and sharply detailed floral carvings in its handle, and the four carved prongs are in matching proportions. The wheel is precisely edged, with 28 alternating points on each side, for the decorative application of crimping the crust of a pie shell. Red dye chaotically accents the handle. Sailors, especially those on the sometime multi-year voyage of an American whaler, would make items to give to their beloveds once in each home port, or just before sailing off on the next voyage.
